Things have been very busy at work and around the house since we've moved in, and now we're getting ready to go on our long-planned vacation on Friday. It's definitely needed after everything! We're so happy in the new house, and we're amazed with the deal we got (although I think we should have negotiated that someone else rake the yard - I swear those trees had a lot more leaves on them when we were first looking!). We recently had the pleasure of working with Richard Watson regarding the sale of our home in The Enclave at Ellicott Hills in Ellicott City. Before choosing Richard, and signing a listing agreement, we interviewed five different realtors. I wanted to write to you regarding our recent experience in selling my father’s home subsequent to his death. As you are more than well aware, these can be complicated and time-consuming. Your realtor, Richard Watson of the Columbia, Maryland office, was exceptionally helpful. The level of service he gave me I’m sure is in the top percentile. There were so many times when I would call to get his opinion, ask a question, or need to visit regarding the transaction and he was always there. It was as if mine was the only home he was selling, yet as you know, he has many homes listed all the time. When I first met Mr. Watson, I was in the process of interviewing several realtors to represent the estate for the sale of the home. After having visited with several of your competitors, I was pleased by his no-nonsense approach in telling me exactly what to expect in the sale of this home. In fact it was short on hype and high on reality therapy. It was as a result of his frankness, what I perceived to be straightforward and honest dealings, combined with his competence that caused me to sign the listing agreement with Mr. Watson. Everything he promised to do, he did and more. The placement of the ads and timing of the ads were just as he said they would be. The time he spent in doing things that I requested were just as he said he would. Even to the fact of having an open house which he warned me would probably not be productive, but if I felt we wanted an open house he would hold it. Indeed, it turned out just as he said. It was not overly productive but he did hold it as we requested. When it came time to do the inspection and walk-through, Mr. Watson was there the entire time to make sure everything proceeded as it should. Because of the unique nature of our transaction and the financing arrangement, it required an above average amount of time on his part to help us with the completion of the negotiations. He was always there. The realtor on the other side of the transaction became less and less involved. As Mr. Watson did more to help consummate the transaction ne never complained. As I reflect back, I even think to some of the work that was being completed on the home as it was new construction. His willingness to go to the home to let workers in that needed to finish various aspects of the construction to make the home complete and ready for sale was much appreciated. Doing commission-based sales myself, I was sensitive to the timing of the payments of commissions. I don’t think it ever occurred to Mr. Watson. His advice was always in my best interest, no matter how long it might have delayed settlement. As a result of my experience with Mr. Watson in selling this home, I can say I would heartily endorse him to anyone looking to buy a home. I felt like I had a friend in the transaction.
